Dagger - suitable for stage combat.
A stage-combat dagger - the blade started life in November 1891
(according to the markings), as a 1888-pattern Lee-Metford bayonet.
At some stage in it's life, it has been left in a damp leather
scabbard, and the blade was very badly pitted. The pommel was also
damaged and corroded, with the catch and spring missing.
I removed the pommel and guard and welded in an extension to the hilt.
The bevels were re-ground to remove most of the pitting, and the tip
was shortened and rounded to a safe profile for stage use.
The guard was hot-forged from square brass bar, and the pommel was a
left-over end of a brass casting from somewhere or other.
Scales are black linen micarta, and the mosaic pins are my own.
The balance point is right on the guard - perfect!

Traditional separate scabbard and frog.
The engraving (by Sarah) reads: "Intention is the Blade" and is a quote
- from whence I will leave the reader to wonder.
