A quick-and-dirty drawknife.

As I have recently acquired a large quantity of ash, I thought I'd have a go at making bows (as you do).

Not having a drawknife, and being a devout cheapskate, I made a drawknife from an old file and set to with wedges, carving axe , drawknife and spokeshave.

Following a busy afternoon in the workshop at the anvil and grinder, one quick & dirty drawknife:

Sharp as a sharp thing, does the job, and cost a few pence for gas and electricity. One old file picked up at the local dump (they save them for me, bless 'em), handled with the remainder of an old sledgehammer handle.
